Wonderful day we having'eh? :P

Am sure a many of you have noticed the ads, and "might" have fired up the ad blockers already XD , but let me tell you, those types of ads that we're serving on the website; don't require a single click from anybody :D

HUH? HOW COME?

These types of ads are called CPM stand for Cost Per Impression (Mile) , which means they depend more on the traffic but clicks are always appreciated AS LONG AS it's not spammed, so don't go hammering that mouse button thinking you are doing us any good! ...that will only result in us getting banned -_-;

HOW DOES THIS WORK EXACTLY?

Well, all these ads have been placed by people who PAID for them. Meaning, when they are displayed, and a user clicks on them; then the "Advertiser" is billed, and that way, the "Publisher~ which is us" gets some % out of that (per 1000 views). e.g. Let's say i place an advertisement and set a specif budget of ($0.07) per click. Once an the advertisement start getting hits/ views, then per 1000 views we end up getting (0.5%) of revenue. It might not sound much, but for sites with heavy traffic, they generate quite a lot...might take a while for us though.

WHY DON'T YOU USE PPC?

PPC stand for Pay Per Click, which in returns stand for, YOUR TRAFFIC MEAN NOTHING WITHOUT CLICKS lol, if the users don't click on the ad, then no money will be generated :( ...quite the bummer but it's effective on site with heavy *clicks*

One of the popular services that deliver these types of advertisements is non other than Google Adsense. I've had a very very bad luck with the service, back in 2007; generated around $700, and than BAAM! my account get suspended. WHY? well, they thought i was clicking my own ads :| ...so it's out of the question.

I understand that most of the ads displayed on the site are not relevant; that's because data about 9xxSSF is being collected, and in time they will switch sides ;)

And there you have it folks :D ...just a reminder to not use adblockers when viewing the site. and by the way, do keep those reviews coming. The more the better ^_^

A big thanks to whom clicked ;)

I use AdBlockPlus simply because my browsing experience is very laggy on some webpages with all the banners and flash adverts, so yeah, obviously it doesn't stop all adverts. In fact I often remove some filters as they interfere with other page elements sometimes, such as the Gaia Online footer (which contains the IM system also).

....Haters gonna hate.... -.-'

It's a request for you or any people who benefit from 9xxSSF to give something in return. Fair game IMHO.

But no one stops you from being selfish like some people around here. It's a matter of conscience and generosity.

Not to come across rude; but requests USUALLY end with a question mark and "please" is also usually somewhere in the sentence too. I am anything but selfish, especially around here, and so I would very much appreciate the implication being withdrawn. If it was one anyway.

Remember what we talked about on a previous status update of yours? You should keep your posts cleaner and without any evidence of possible trolling, like your first post here.

You know what I meant, and I think you're considerate enough to understand what would benefit us all.

I'm certainly not trolling, I just feel that this respect you spoke of to Arcane should be upheld by all, including yourself. So if you want someone to do something, ask nicely. Is that not fair enough?

I'll think about it, personally I would rather donate directly though. You need to try and understand my perspective though, this site loads slowly enough without adverts at times.

As long as the ad's on this site don't like popup and automatically download stuff (i've encountered a few ads that did this in the past on unrelated sites) I guess no harm could come from me whitelisting 9xxSSF lol

Otherwise, I really don't like or approve of ads. The security on my computer is already little to nothing (DEP disabled, Windows Firewall and Defender disabled, no 3rd-party AV or Firewall, Static NAT on router firewall, UAC disabled) because I'm aware of whats running on my computer, and I'm careful with what sites I visit and what I download. Ad's are unpredictable :/

Fair enough. I'm sorry if I came out harsh or demanding, I won't repeat so in the future.

About the ads on the forums, keep in mind they're not flash based, so they're way from being heavy like flash or silverlight based ads.

Why exactly are you going online both commando and bareback? :) That's just a recipe for disaster, as even trusted sites can be compromised.

I like max performance :P

UAC and Windows Firewall are both annoying imo (I require access to certain files at times that UAC would deny, and I can't bother with running some things as admin, and not others; and Windows Firewall I hear doesn't do anything anyway), Windows Defender and DEP use CPU cycles (and I never encounter any warning from both in the past), and as for Static NAT, i couldn't be bothered to forward ports in the past (but I should probably turn that off at some point)

I don't like UAC either, and Windows Firewall is too inefficient, just like Windows Defender, in which I replace those features by a 3rd party suite. DEP is an entirely different situation though, a feature that shouldn't really give any noticeable CPU usage increase as long as the CPU supports it in hardware, even more so when you fully tweak both incoming and outgoing requests. I don't really care about changing NAT settings since I already run a static IP and just had to forward a couple of ports for everything to run at full speed.

Still, I've heard some lady computers might not hook up with yours because of the risks ;)

Apology accepted. Well, I will see how it goes I guess. Though even my own website is not white-listed in my filters, so yeah.

I sometimes go overkill with my security, but one thing I absolutely cannot stand is UAC!

Even though UAC got a more granular control from Vista to 7, it's still so intrusive :/

And the whole performance situation is indeed very real. Unplugging from the internet and disabling all security related features give a very significant performance increase, but with the "always on" DRM being pushed around, that's just about impossible to happen. Still, I do hope to see in a not so distant future true lightweight security software while maintaining high levels of protection.

Not entirely related, but if WCP is any indication of what to expect in W8 RTM, UAC will have to be enabled to even do most things Metro-related :/

Indeed... it was quite surprising when I went to open the camera app, I got greeted with a message saying UAC had to be activated (using a camera app, playing solitaire, or listening to music must have some insane risks associated with it :P)

Then it's a good thing I already have my shell replacement Windows 8 ready and Metro will have a glorious hour in my computer ;)

I need a new Windows, not a new Windows UI.
